A total of 20 applications were submitted for the limited, two-stage, anonymous Call for tenders for the design of visual identity, setup and signal system of the Rector’s Palace. The jury was composed of the following members: Lana Cavar, Iva Letilovic, Maroje Mrduljas, Renata Peros and Koraljka Vlajo. In a meeting held on Monday, 4 July, the jury chose five teams who will be working on proposals for tendering solutions.

The teams:

  • Andro Giunio, Marijana Gradecak, Bojan Mucko
  • Damir Gamulin and Antun Sevsek
  • Group Name (Masa Milovac, Kristina Volf, Jan Pavlovic, Maja Merlic)
  • Juric / Mihaljevic / Zivcic (Iva Maria Juric, Niko Mihaljevic, Hrvoje Zivcic)
  • Superstudio (CDSS) (Ira Payer, Iva Hrvatin, Bojan Kristofic)

Justification of the decision:

A total of 20 applications is already an impressive number, with both affirmed and newly formed teams of mostly younger and middle aged generations. The jury believes that the element of visual communication was particularly important within this task, which affected the overall assessment criterion. When selecting a team, the jury tried to select authors with diverse aesthetics, the ones who have experience in tasks comparable, but not necessarily identical, to this Call for tenders. They sought for authors who are research-oriented, who cherish contemporary approaches, as well as those who can demonstrate high level of design literacy in their applications. Moreover, the capacity of teams for further elaboration and implementation of the project was taken into consideration, too. The aim of the Call, and this jury’s wish, was to receive a number of distinctive works which are done at the highest possible professional level as an answer to such a complex and sensitive task such as Reconstruction and tourist valorisation of cultural and historical complex of the Rector's Palace.

An interview with selected teams will be held on Friday, 8 July 2016 in Zadar.

We thank all applicants for their interest in participating in the above-mentioned Call.
